Located in SW8 in the London Borough of Lambeth, Vauxhall is a mixed commercial and residential district undergoing significant redevelopment. The area was first established as a desirable location in the 1600s through the construction of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, which were one the most important leisure venues in London until their closure in 1859. The area was bombed substantially during WW2, leading to a severe housing crisis, and the establishment of several council housing estates across the area.
